Mint Julep

The signature cocktail of the Kentucky Derby, it’s imperative that you use exquisite bourbon and fresh mint when making a Mint Julep. Metal tumblers packed with ice are key, too.

2 Ounces Woodford Reserve Bourbon

2 Tsp Superfine Sugar

Handful of Fresh Mint Leaves

Ice

Powdered Sugar

Directions

  1. Place mint leaves, sugar and one tablespoon of ice into a silver or pewter cup and gently muddle; over-muddling will result in an overly bitter drink.

  2. Fill the cup with crushed ice and add bourbon.

  3. Stir gently for 30 seconds or until the sides of the cup become frosted; add more ice if needed.

  4. Dust the top with powdered sugar (swoon) and garnish with fresh mint.
